BAYLOR VS. OKLAHOMA STATE...
The Baylor Lady Bears, currently ranked No. 5 in the latest AP and No. 4 in the Coaches polls, enter the contest versus the Oklahoma State Cowgirls with an 11-1 overall record and a 1-1 Big 12 mark. Baylor's NCAA Division I-best and school record 30-game win streak was snapped last week but the Lady Bears have won 46 of their last 51 games. Baylor comes into Wednesday's game sporting a school-record 23-game home win streak, as its last Ferrell Center loss came on Feb. 8, 2004 to Texas Tech (62-59). The Lady Bears reeled off three home wins after the Lady Raider loss, were 14-0 last season and are 6-0 so far in 2005-06.
Senior forward Sophia Young, national player of the year candidate and Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year, leads Baylor in both scoring and rebounding at 22.2 points and 10.7 rebounds a game. The Kodak All-American, who leads the Big 12 in scoring and ranks No. 3 in rebounding, produced two double-doubles last week to raise her career total to 52, good for No. 2 on the conference chart. Sophomore point guard Angela Tisdale ranks second on the squad in scoring at 14.4 an outing. Junior forward Abiola Wabara completes BU's double-digit season scoring trio at 10.3 a contest and she ranks second among Lady Bears in rebounding at 6.4 a game.
The Oklahoma State Cowgirls, 6-7 overall and 0-2 in league action, are coming off a Saturday afternoon home loss to Iowa State (71-62). Junior center Whitney Pegram, a 6-4 transfer from Seward (Kan.) County CC, leads the Cowgirls in scoring at 18.3 points a game while freshman forward Shaunte' Smith completes Oklahoma State's double-digit scorers at 11.2 a contest. Destanie Sykes, a 6-0 junior forward, leads the Cowgirls in rebounding with 7.9 a contest while Smith checks in at 6.9 and Pegram manages 6.1.
BAYLOR QUICK HITS...
• Baylor's 30-game win streak equaled 10th longest in NCAA Division I women's basketball history. BU is 46-5 over its last 51 games.
• Sophia Young is on track to join an elite group who have tallied 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 assists and 300 steals in their NCAA Division I career, as she currently has 2,010 points, 1,115 rebounds, 259 assists, 263 steals.
• Young needs 324 points and 109 rebounds to become the Big 12's all-time scorer and rebounder.

BAYLOR IN THE POLLS...
Baylor finished last season ranked No. 1 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll and No. 5 in the Associated Press (AP) poll. The Lady Bears, defending NCAA champions, are currently ranked No. 4 in the most recent coaches poll after debuting at No 7 in the preseason poll. The AP poll's Jan. 9 ranking lists Baylor at No. 5 dropping a spot after sitting at No. 4 for three weeks. Baylor has now been ranked in a school-record 39 straight AP polls dating back to week nine of the 2003-04 listing when it broke in at No. 24. The Lady Bears have not been ranked lower than No. 9 since Nov. 30, 2004.
THE COACHES...
Baylor coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson is in her sixth season and owns a 142-39 head coaching record which equates to a .785 winning percentage. She has produced 20-win seasons in each of her first five years as a head coach and has taken the Lady Bears to postseason competition every year, four times to the NCAA Tournament and to the finals of the 2003 WNIT. In 2005, the Lady Bears claimed Baylor's and the Big 12's first NCAA basketball championship. Mulkey-Robertson is 8-2 versus Oklahoma State, 5-0 in Waco.

Mulkey-Robertson was named Baylor's fourth head coach on April 4, 2000. She was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame that same year. She was inducted into the CoSIDA Academic All-America Hall of Fame in June of 2003.
Kurt Budke was named the Oklahoma State Cowgirls' head coach on March 28, after a successful stints at Allen County (Texas) CC and Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College. At TVCC he led the Lady Cardinal to four national titles. Budke made a move to the Division I level and a two-year stint as associate head coach at Louisiana Tech followed. Budke took over the Tech program prior to the 2002-03 season and led the Lady Techsters to a 31-3 record. In three seasons at Tech, he compiled a record of 80-16 while making NCAA Tournament appearances each season. Coach Budke's four-year NCAA Division I career record now stands at 86-20.
THE SERIES RECORDS...
Baylor and Oklahoma State will meet for the 22nd time when the two teams square off on Wednesday evening. Baylor leads the series 14-7 and has triumphed in five straight meetings. BU has won nine of the last 11 and seven of the last eight contests versus OSU. Baylor holds a 10-1 series lead in games played in Waco. OSU's lone Waco victory came on Feb. 6, 1999, 58-56.
BAYLOR IN BIG 12 GAMES...
The 2005-06 season marks the 10th year of competition for women's basketball in the Big 12 Conference. Baylor has a record of 81-65 in regular season Big 12 games. However, in Kim Mulkey-Robertson's five-plus years, Baylor is 54-28 in Big 12 play and has never posted a losing conference record. In 2004-05 the Lady Bears claimed their first-ever Big 12 Conference championship, winning both the regular season and tournament titles.

THE LAST MEETING...
Baylor prevailed in both games with the Cowgirls last season, 67-65 in Stillwater and 87-51 in Waco. Baylor escaped with the victory in Stillwater when Steffanie Blackmon was fouled under the basket with 0.9 seconds remaining and made both shots from the foul line. The Cowgirls' ensuing inbound pass went out of bounds and Baylor ran out the final few ticks.
ATTENDANCE RANKINGS...
In unofficial attendance rankings maintained by the University of Wisconsin, the Lady Bears currently rank No. 6 nationally with 7,582 fans a game. Ranking ahead of Baylor is Tennessee (14,228), Texas Tech (11,767), Connecticut (11,593), New Mexico (9,540) and Iowa State (7,691). Also, the Baylor-Texas game (10,040) ranks No. 27 and the Baylor-UCLA crowd of 9,065 currently ranks No. 32 in top single game attendance for the season.
YOUNG ACHIEVES MILESTONE...
With her 14 rebound performance against Georgia senior forward Sophia Young surpassed the 1,000 rebound mark. In doing so, she becomes just the fourth Baylor player to attain that mark. Since the Georgia game, Young has risen to No. 2 on the Baylor rebounding charts, currently registering 1,115 boards, passing Maggie Davis Stinnett's 1,022. Suzie Snider Eppers (1973-77) holds down No. 1 at 2,176.
Young achieved another milestone in the last play of the first half against Texas when she scored her 2,000th point. She becomes the third Baylor player to score 2,000 points. She currently ranks No. 3 in career scoring with 2,010 points behind Suzie Snider Eppers' 3,861 and Maggie Davis Stinnett's 2,027. Young needs just 18 points to move up to the No. 2 spot.
