WACO, Texas -- Baylor's team of Brittany Brockman and Lauren Hagans edged out the Bears' tandem of Lyndsy and Erin Bedell at the line to win the Bear Relays in a time of 28.20.3 in action at the Baylor Intramural Fields on Friday. On the men's side, Baylor's Bo Price and Rob Morrow, who are redshirting this season and ran unattached, claimed the men's title, finishing the relay in a time of 37:09.8.

"It was a good way to start the season," head coach Todd Harbour said. "I think everyone was excited to go out and compete and I think it provided a great atmosphere for everyone who attended the race."

The team of Brockman and Hagans narrowly edged out the Bedell sisters as the team won by less than a second as the Bedell sisters finished the 8,000-meter race in a time of 28:20.9.

The Bears team of Brittany McGuire and Jessi Barnes finished fourth at the meet, finishing with a time of 29:10.7.

Baylor's team of Charity Williams and Lindsey Grewe, who ran unattached at the meet, finished in eighth with a time of 29:53.0 while Adrian Robinson and Laura Hughes, also running unattached, finished 16th with a time of 31:58.9.

Molly Jacobs and Vanessa Browne finished in 20th with a time of 33:08.7 as Danielle Elliot and Jennifer Marquez rounded out the Baylor runners with a time of 33:10.9 to finish 21st.

On the men's side, Price and Morrow easily captured the men's title, defeating the second place team of Steven Solazzo and Kip Kangogo by over 30 seconds as the pair from TCU finished in a time of 37:41.2.

Baylor's Jacob Jones and John Wenhold finished third at the meet, crossing the line for the Bears in a time of 38:03.04.

Rey Hinojosa and freshman Hunter Garner earned their first career top-10 finish at the meet, teaming to finish in eighth for Baylor with a time of 39:08.7.

Mark Smith and Jordan Hiller just missed out on a top-10 finish for Baylor as the pair finished 11th with a time of 39:53.9.

Andrew Strohman and Trey Slack, running unattached, finished 13th with a time of 40:19.6 to round out the Baylor results.

Baylor will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 10, when the men's and women's cross country teams travel to College Station, Texas, to compete in the Texas A&M Invitational.
