BAYLOR SOCCER TRAVELS TO FACE TEXAS IN BIG 12 CONFERENCE PLAY
WACO, Texas - The Baylor soccer team (2-7-1, 0-2) returns to action this week when the Bears travel to Austin, Texas, to take on Texas (3-5-1, 0-2). The Bears will take on the Longhorns on Friday, Sept. 30, at 7:00 p.m.
"It is an extremely important match for both school as we are both looking to pick up our first conference win," head coach George Van Linder said. "We will have to be at the top of the game as we face a Texas team that is extremely talented."
Baylor enters the contest after opening the Big 12 Conference season with a pair of tough, one-goal losses. The Bears fell to Kansas 1-0 to open Big 12 play before falling at Missouri 2-1. Entering this weekend's game against the Longhorns, three Baylor players are tied for the team lead in points as Tiffany Boshers, Anna Schuch and Brittani Zonker lead the way for the Bears with eight points each.
Baylor is looking for its second consecutive victory over the Longhorns as the Bears defeated Texas 2-1 last season in overtime.
Texas enters the weekend after dropping a pair of road conference games. The Longhorns fell to Oklahoma State 2-0 before falling to Oklahoma by the same score.
Texas is led by forward Kelsey Carpenter, who leads the team with three goals and six points on the season. Dianna Pfenninger and Dana Hall have split time in the net this season for Texas as Pfenninger has recorded a goals against average of 1.15 and has made 19 saves this season while Hall has posted a 1.25 goals against average while making 21 saves on the year.
After Baylor's victory in the series last season, the series record between the two schools is now tied at 5-5-1.
Tiffany Boshers AMONG CONFERENCE LEADERS
Ten games into the 2005 season, senior forward Tiffany Boshers ranks near the top of a pair of league categories, tied for the league lead in shots and ranks second in shots per game. Through 10 games, Boshers ranks tied for first in the league with 51 shots and second with 5.10 shots per game.
So far this season, the forward has connected for three goals and is tied for the team lead with eight points on the season.

Baylor will return to action on Friday, Oct. 7, when the Bears host Nebraska in Big 12 Conference action at 7:00 p.m.
