COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Baylor soccer team jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, however, Missouri rallied for two goals in the second half to claim a 2-1 victory over the Bears in Big 12 Conference action on Sunday. With the loss, Baylor falls to 2-7-1 on the season, 0-2 in the Big 12 Conference as Missouri improves to 6-3-1 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 play.
Brittani Zonker gave the Bears the early 1-0 lead when she took a pass from Jennifer Martin in the 23rd minute and blasted it past the Missouri goalkeeper. The goal was the third of the season for Zonker, who is now tied for the team lead.
As the Bears headed into halftime with a one goal lead, Missouri responded with two goals in the second to claim the one goal victory.
Missouri tied the game in the 58th-minute when Jennifer Nobis connected on a penalty kick t make the score 1-1.
The Tigers would then grab the lead only three minutes later when Amber Swinehart connected on her sixth goal of the season to make the score 2-1. Nobis and Erica Pusch recorded assists on the goal as Missouri would hold on to a 2-1 victory.
For the game, Missouri out-shot Baylor 23-14 as the Tigers also held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Ashley Holder made nine saves in the loss for Baylor while Laura Buehrig made six saves for the Tigers in earning the victory.
Baylor will return to action on Friday, Sept. 30, when the Bears travel to Austin, Texas, to face Texas at 7:00 p.m.
