WACO, Texas - The entire Baylor Lady Bear basketball team and coaching staff took part in The Ten Cares (KWTX TV), Central Texas Shares drive for refugees of Hurricane Katrina on Friday at the HEB in Hewitt.
The Ten Cares, Central Texas Shares, in conjunction with local HEB stores, collected donated bottled water, peanut butter, canned tuna, cereal, granola bars and diapers for the thousands of hurricane survivors who are streaming into Texas in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
The Lady Bears spent two hours on Friday helping load collected items into trucks. "We are so appreciative of all that we have, so it is truly gratifying to be able to help in the relief effort," said senior guard Jordan Davis. "These victims have lost everything and it gives us a good feeling to be able to give something back to society."
