WACO, Texas - Baylor head men's basketball coach Scott Drew has donated two tickets behind the bench and a team-autographed basketball as part of Coaches All Across America's effort to assist Gulf Coast citizens rebuilding from Hurricane Katrina.
The Baylor package, as well as dozens of other items from basketball programs nationwide, is being auctioned off online at www.allcoachescare.com. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go directly to Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization that builds homes for low incomes families.
"This is a real noble cause and we feel honored to be a part of it," Drew said. "We hope people bid generously to help the victims of the hurricane."
Drew has donated two tickets behind the Bears bench to the March 1, 2006, game against Texas Tech at the Ferrell Center as well as a basketball autographed by the 2005-2006 Baylor team. Interested parties can bid on the package directly at Baylor basketball package on EBay
AllCoachNetwork.com and Coaches All Across America have teamed up to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The goal of the organizing committee, headed by Virginia Tech's Seth Greenberg, is to raise money through an online auction and cash donations. AllCoachNetwork.com is administering the auction, which started Sept. 14 on EBay, in conjunction with Snappy Auctions eBay Drop-Off Stores.
"We are so pleased to have the opportunity to help raise money for the eventual reconstruction of New Orleans and the entire Gulf coast though Habitat for Humanity," Greenberg said. "Snappy Auctions' online presence on eBay, combined with the efforts of the coaches and AllCoachNetwork.com, will provide people another way to contribute to this unprecedented initiative."
All money raised through the auction will go directly to Habitat for Humanity, which will be administered by www.MissionFish.org, the official non-profit liaison for eBay.
