Journal Week 3,

This football team is quickly putting to rest many of the demons that have haunted this program for the last decade. We are 3-0 for the first time in my career here at Baylor and have won two of those games on the road, where we struggled so much last year. After the first game at SMU our critics claimed it wasn't really a road game because we had so many fans there and it was so close to Waco. In the Samford game they said we struggled for much of the game and looked sloppy. I wonder what they will have to say now that we have won a game that we flew 2,000 miles to play in front of a very hostile crowd. This team is for real. I suppose it will take a win on the road in the Big 12 before we are accepted for what we are, and that is next on our list of goals. The scary thing about this team is that despite being undefeated we still have so much that we can improve upon. We handled the many distractions at Army like a group of veterans, and in a way that is what we are. We have grown up under fire, and it has hardened us. We handled the long flight, a terrible visitor's locker room, and the tradition of West Point to pull out the win. This week we can heal up and prepare for those Aggies. We will be ready, and rested when the time comes. I know that we have our best football ahead of us and I can't wait to come home in a couple of weeks to play Nebraska with a Big 12 road victory, or two, under our belts. Sic `em Bears!

P.S. It was great to come out of the tunnel at West Point and see so many Baylor fans in the stands. On behalf of everyone associated with the team, thanks for your support--it made a difference! It was neat to see all that Green & Gold and we're glad we could give you a victory to cheer about.
