Journal Week 2,

We are two steps closer to our goal of becoming bowl eligible after beginning 2-0. I have been really proud of how we have handled adversity the entire season from summer camp and through the first two games. We have been pretty busy removing a few monkeys from our backs. As a fifth year senior I won my first road game of my career against SMU and have started 2-0 for the first time since my true freshman year in 2001.

I feel like we have been really focused this season, and are aware of what we want to accomplish. We know that we have a lot of room for improvement, but are still happy to be undefeated. Early in the season games are usually ugly, the key is to make sure that you come out with a win and we have done that so far. Although we haven't played any teams with Big XII talent so far, I think that people saw that SMU is a really improved team with their win over #22 TCU. Samford has played division one teams really tough in the last couple of years, and they definitely came here and played well.

I hope that the Baylor nation has recognized that we are a much better team at this point in the season than we have been in a long time. The fan support has been incredible. So many people came to the SMU game that it was almost a home game, and we had a good crowd against Samford despite a 45 minute rain delay. This team can really do something special this year with support like that. We have a few big goals left to accomplish, but the most pressing is beginning the season with three wins and that will be our focus this week. So make sure that if you can't make it to see the Army game that you watch it on ESPN Classic, Saturday at 2:00 PM. Sic'em Bears.
