WACO, Texas -- Baylor punter Daniel Sepulveda has been named to the 2005 Ray Guy Award Watch List, announced Tuesday by the Greater Augusta [Ga.] Sports Council. Sepulveda, who became the first sophomore winner in the award's history last year, looks to become the first two-time winner of the award presented annually to the nation's top punter.

A junior out of Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas, Sepulveda currently leads the nation with 47.6 yards per punt through two games of the 2005 season. Last Saturday against Samford, he recorded his ninth and 10th career punts of at least 60 yards, tying Kyle Atteberry's school record. Sepulveda already owns Baylor's career record for punts of 50-plus yards with 53.

Sepulveda is one of six punters from the Big 12 Conference named to the 41-person Watch List, which will be trimmed to 10 semifinalists in November. The national voting body then will select three finalists, who will travel to Orlando, Fla., Dec. 8 for the 2005 Home Depot College Football Awards Show aired on ESPN.
