WACO, Texas - The 2005 NCAA National Champion Lady Bear basketball team will be signing autographs at the Ferrell Center from 4- 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4. Admission to the event is free and open to the public. At this same time at the Ferrell Center, the United States Postal Service is offering a special cancellation honoring the Lady Bears. In addition, the Lady Bears will be recognized by the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center on Monday, May 2.
Ferrell Center doors will open at 4 p.m. and concessions and Lady Bear merchandise will be available for purchase.
Fans may bring one item per person to be autographed, the Baylor Athletic Department will provide autograph cards for those without an item. In order to keep the line moving and ensure that every person gets to meet the Lady Bears, there will be no personalization of items or pictures with the players allowed.
The United States Postal Service is offering a special cancellation, Wednesday, May 4 to mark the Lady Bears as the 2005 NCAA Women's National Champions. A cancellation is the mark put across the postage stamp on letters, postcards and packages when they are mailed, "cancelling" the stamps' value so they can't be reused. The Lady Bear cancel has a picture of a Baylor Bear, claw up, and reads: "Lady Bears, 2005 Women's Basketball, National Champions, Baylor University Station, Waco, Texas 76798." The Lady Bear cancellation will be available for 30 days only as a novelty- no mail will be delivered with that cancellation. For those who cannot make it to the Ferrell Center that day, they can mail a self-addressed stamped envelope inside a larger envelope to the Waco Post Office, 430 W. State Hwy 6, Waco, Texas, 76702-9998.
In addition, the Lady Bears will be recognized by the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center on Monday, May 2. Players and coaches will be on-court during the second timeout of the first quarter of the Mavericks-Houston Rockets playoff game.
