Baylor - The 28-0 Baylor Bears, ranked No. 1 nationally and the tournament's No. 1 seed, are participating in their eighth NCAA Tournament. Baylor is the defending NCAA Champion.
The Bears are led by second-ranked Benedikt Dorsch, No. 18 Benjamin Becker, No. 50 Lars Poerschke and No. 106 Michal Kokta. Poerschke leads the team in singles wins with a 34-11 record while Kokta follows with a 32-9 mark. Dorsch is 25-2 this season and Becker is 24-5. Becker and Kokta went 7-0 this season in conference play, while Kokta went 6-1. The Bears have also been powerful in doubles play. Matija Zgaga and Dorsch rank second nationally with a 19-4 record having played every match on the No. 1 court. Kokta and Poerschke are 18-4 in the No. 2 court for the Bears, while Becker and Reckewey enter the tournament at 15-6.
Baylor will take on Prairie View A&M in first round action. The Panthers are making their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance. Texas and Rice tangle if the other first round matchup.

According to the most recent Omni Hotels Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team rankings released May 2, the Baylor men's tennis team is ranked No.1 in the nation.

Protecting the Home Court...
During the 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 seasons, the Bears won all of their home matches. In fact, under head coach Matt Knoll the Bears are 101-16 when playing at home. In 2002, 13 matches were won on the Baylor Tennis Center and while the other three were played at the Ennis Indoor courts; in 2003, the Bears were victorious 13 times at the Baylor Tennis Center and one at the Ennis complex and they have won 14 at the Baylor Tennis Center and one at Ennis in 2004. The Bears continued their winning ways going 12-0 at home this season, 2-0 in Ennis.
