ARLINGTON, Texas - Baylor senior Darold Williamson (San Antonio, Texas) ran a 46.01 to win the 400 meters, then led the 4x400-meter relay squad also consisting of sophomores Mark Teter (San Antonio, Texas) and Kevin Mutai (Round Rock, Texas) and junior Wil Fitts (Desoto, Texas) to a victory with a time of 3:06.82 at the UTA Invitational Saturday at Maverick Stadium.
Junior Bo Price (Atlanta, Texas) recorded a win in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:54.32, while junior Rob Morrow (Grapevine, Texas) finished third in 3:57.99. Junior Jerome Miller (Houston, Texas) ran a 14.06 to win the 110-meter hurdles and ran 52.11 to finish second in the 400-meter hurdles.
On the women's side, senior Lakadron Ivery (Tyler, Texas) ran 11.39 to win the 100 meters, while senior Elizabeth Wilson (Duncanville, Texas) finished sixth in 11.69. Senior Danielle Myricks (Willingboro, N.J.) won the 400-meter hurdles in 58.44, while sophomore Lauren Tillman (Lawrenceville, Ga.) took third in 1:00.88.
Senior April Holliness (Duncanville, Texas) won the long jump with a mark of 6.26 meters (20-6 ½), and freshman Brittany Devereaux (Denton, Texas) won the discus with a throw of 47.71 meters (156-6). The women's relays also performed well, winning the 4x100 meters in 44.48 and the 4x400 meters in 3:37.35.
Also recording top-five finishes were freshman Carla Grace (San Antonio, Texas) in the 200 meters, taking third in 24.01 and sophomore Rena Napoleon (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finishing fourth in the 400 meters in 55.56. Freshman Lauren Hagans (Little Rock, Ark.) finished second in the 800 in 2:11.27, while junior Shanta Bibbs (San Antonio, Texas) finished fourth in 2:13.34.
Sophomore Brittany McGuire (Humble, Texas) finished third in the 1,500 meters in 4:38.24, and junior Janelle Mulkey (San Antonio, Texas) finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.38. Sophomore Monique Ortega (El Paso, Texas) took second in the 3,000 meters in 9:48.23, and freshman Lyndsy Bedell (Plano, Texas) finished third in 9:55.35.
The Bears return to action at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Thursday through Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
