AMES, Iowa - The Baylor women's 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Carla Grace (San Antonio, Texas), seniors Lakadron Ivery (Tyler, Texas) and Danielle Myricks (Willingboro, N.J.) and junior Angel Perkins ran a 3:33.87 to set the school record and finish second at the Last Chance Meet hosted by Iowa State Saturday.
Ivery and senior Elizabeth Wilson (Duncanville, Texas) finished 1-2 in the 60 meters with Ivery running 7.39 and Wilson running 7.48. Ivery finished fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.75, while Wilson, the Big 12 champion, finished ninth in 24.04.
The men's Big 12 champion 4x400-meter relay squad of sophomores Mark Teter (San Antonio, Texas) and Kevin Mutai (Round Rock, Texas), junior Wil Fitts (Desoto, Texas) and senior Darold Williamson (San Antonio, Texas) finished fifth with a season-best time of 3:05.48 to automatically qualify for the NCAA championship.
Junior Jerome Miller (Houston, Texas) failed to improve his time in the 60-meter hurdles, running a best of 7.95 in the prelims and finishing ninth with a time of 8.01.
The Bears will compete in the 2005 NCAA Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday, March 11-12, at the Randal Tyson Track Complex in Fayetteville, Ark.
