WACO, Texas - Baylor's Aaron Bruce was selected a first-team freshman All-America by the Basketball Times, the organization announced Tuesday in advance of its April 2005 publication.
Bruce was joined on the first team by Daniel Gibson of Texas, Jeff Green of Georgetown, Marvin Williams of North Carolina and Darius Washington of Memphis.
The national honor is the third for Bruce, who was previously named a freshman All-American by Rivals and CollegeInsider.com. The native Australian is Baylor's first freshman All-American since former Bear and current Mississippi State All-American Lawrence Roberts was a second-team selection in 2002.
The 6-3 guard led the nation's freshman in scoring this season and set a new Big 12 freshman scoring record by averaging 18.2 points per game. Bruce ranked second in the Big 12 in scoring in the latest rankings, ranked third in free throw shooting (83%) and fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (40%).
