WACO, Texas - Baylor's Sophia Young is included in Sports Illustrated's cover collage in the issue hitting newsstands today. In addition, a feature article on the fifth-ranked Baylor squad appears in the issue.
SI senior writer Kelli Anderson spent four days in Waco conducting interviews for the feature article and witnessed Baylor's victory over Texas Tech in the Ferrell Center. The win over the Lady Raiders earned Baylor sole possession of the Big 12 Conference championship.
Young, recently named an All-American by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, is only the second Baylor athlete to appear on the SI cover donning a Baylor uniform. The only other time a Baylor athlete made the cover wearing a Baylor uniform was when Iowa State's Marcus Fizer was scoring over Baylor freshman center John Flippen. The March 21 cover features 16 former NCAA Tournament MVPs, a handful of the women's stars and one player from each of the 65 men's teams. Young's picture appears just below the "s" in Illustrated
