Gillis Takes 12th in Long Jump at NCAAs

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Baylor junior Chris Gillis (Pennsauken, N.J.) jumped 7.34 meters (24-1) to finish 12th in the Bears' only final on the first day of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday at Randal Tyson Track Center.

Senior Darold Williamson (San Antonio, Texas) posted the fourth-fastest qualifying time in the 400 meters with a time of 46.53. Williamson will run in the second heat of the finals tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Williamson, who will also anchor the Bears' 4x400-meter relay, finished fourth at last year's indoor championships.

Senior Elizabeth Wilson (Duncanville, Texas) finished 16th in the 200 meters, clocking a 24.05, and failed to qualify for the finals.

The championships conclude tomorrow with Baylor competing in three events. Williamson gets the action started in the 400 at 7:05, while the women's 4x400-meter relay will run at 8:05, followed by the men's 4x400-meter relay, the last event of the meet, at 8:20 p.m.
