WACO, Texas - Men's tennis maintained its top spot Tuesday in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings. This is the third ITA rankings release in 2005 and the Bears have held the No. 1 spot each time.
The Bears currently hold a school record 28-game winning streak. The last time Baylor lost dates back to Feb. 28, 2004, when Baylor suffered a 4-3 loss to USC.
Baylor holds a 4-0 record in 2005, including a 2-0 record in conference. The Bears opened the season with a 7-0 road win at Nebraska, followed by a 6-1 win at No. 62 Colorado.
In its home opener, Baylor defeated No. 8 USC by a 5-2 margin. The Bears then went back on the road to take a 5-2 decision from No. 13 Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.
Baylor returns to action at the 2005 U.S. Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Team Indoor Championships. The four-day tournament runs from Feb. 17-21 at the Mid-Town Tennis Club in Chicago.
