LINCOLN, Neb. - Senior Darold Williamson (San Antonio, Texas) won the 400 meters with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 46.17, exactly one second faster than the rest of the field at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational Saturday at the Devaney Sports Center Indoor Track.
Williamson also anchored the 4x400-meter relay to victory with an NCAA provisional time of 3:09.85. Williamson was joined on the relay by sophomore Mark Teter (San Antonio, Texas), sophomore Kevin Mutai (Round Rock) and junior Wil Fitts (Desoto, Texas).
Fitts won the 600 yards in 1:09.94 as the Bears took three of the top five spots. Mutai finished fourth in 1:10.95, while sopohomore John Robertson (Greensboro, N.C.) finished fifth in 1:11.95. Teter finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 48.19.
Senior Lakadron Ivery (Tyler, Texas) won the 200 meters in 24.18, while junior Marquisha Sefas (Fort Worth, Texas) took third in 24.32, freshman Carla Grace (San Antonio, Texas) finished fifth in 24.53 and senior Elizabeth Wilson (Duncanville, Texas) finished sixth in 24.64. The women's distance medley relay of senior Jessa Chance (Southlake, Texas), sophomore Lauren Tillman (Lawrenceville, Ga.), freshman Lauren Hagans (Little Rock, Ark.) and sophomore Monique Ortega (El Paso, Texas) recorded a victory in 11:52.15.
The women enjoyed three second-place finishes. Junior Angel Perkins (Cerritos, Calif.) recorded an NCAA provisional time of 53.57 in the 400 meters. Ivery ran a 7.40 in the 60 meters, and junior Shanta Bibbs (San Antonio, Texas) posted a time of 1:22.69 in the 600 yards.
Hagans finished fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.55, while Ortega finished 10th in 2:15.29. Junior Janelle Mulkey (San Antonio, Texas) finished ninth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.70.
