BAYLOR VS. SAM HOUSTON STATE...
The Baylor Lady Bears, currently ranked No. 4 in both the AP and Coaches polls, enter the contest versus the Sam Houston State Bearkats with a 9-0 record and an NCAA Division I-best and school record 29-game win streak. En route to its perfect 2005-06 mark, Baylor has posted wins over No. 8 Georgia, UCLA, Indiana, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, California, Marshall, Washington, McNeese State and Army. Baylor is 9-0 for the first time since 2001-02, the third time under head coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson and the fifth time in school history.

Senior forward Sophia Young, national player of the year candidate, leads Baylor in both scoring and rebounding at 21.1 points and 10.6 rebounds a game. Sophomore point guard Angela Tisdale, currently sitting out the third game of a three-game suspension, ranks second on the squad in scoring at 15.7 an outing. Junior forward Abiola Wabara completes BU's double-digit season scoring trio at 11.7 a contest and she ranks second among Lady Bears in rebounding at 6.4 a game.

With a 5-4 record to begin the 2005-06 season and sporting a three-game win streak, Sam Houston State is off to its best start since it began the 1993-94 season with an identical 5-4 record. Experience is a key for the Bearkats as eight letter winners including four starters return from the 2004-05 squad. Returning starters include 6-0 senior Jamie Davison (6.7 points, 3.4 rebounds), 5-8 junior Jamie Barr (6.2 points, 2.6 rebounds), 6-1 sophomore Adah Wells (5.5 points, 3.2 rebounds), and 5-7 senior Stephanie Trachier (4.4 points, 2.7 rebounds). Center Adah Wells and forward Erica Parker lead the Kats in scoring each with 91 points in nine games for 10.1 scoring averages. Wells also is the team's top rebounder with 4.9 boards per contest.

29-GAME WIN STREAK...
The Lady Bears enter the Sam Houston State contest sporting the nation's longest win streak, a school-record 29-game string. Baylor's last loss came on Jan. 22, 2005, in Austin, Texas when the Texas Longhorns handed the Lady Bears a 69-55 setback. Baylor would then go on to reel off 20 straight wins in 2005, including victories over three No.1 NCAA Tournament seeds, North Carolina, LSU and Michigan State, to claim its first national title. The Lady Bears extended the win streak to 29 games by defeating Georgia in their season opener, 84-72, as part of the State Farm Tip-Off Classic, UCLA (93-85), Indiana (74-62), Texas A&M-CC (92-64), California (75-58), Marshall (74-47), Washington (81-74), McNeese State (72-36) and Army (85-68).

The 29-game string is tied for the 11th longest in NCAA Division I women's basketball history. Auburn (1988-89), Vermont (1991-92) and Louisiana Tech (2002-03) all registered 29-game streaks. One more victory would tie the Lady Bears with Miami (FL) for the 10th longest streak, a feat the Hurricane accomplished in 1991-92.

THE COACHES...
Baylor coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson is in her sixth season and owns a 140-38 head coaching record which equates to a .787 winning percentage. She has produced 20-win seasons in each of her first five years as a head coach and has taken the Lady Bears to postseason competition every year, four times to the NCAA Tournament and to the finals of the WNIT. In 2005, the Lady Bears claimed Baylor's and the Big 12's first NCAA basketball championship. Mulkey-Robertson is 3-0 versus the Bearkats.

James "Wooly" Hatchell is in his third season at the helm of the Sam Houston State women's basketball program and has produced a 19-45 record while on the campus. Prior to joining the Sam Houston State staff on July 16, 2003, Hatchell was an assistant coach at Rice University for 10 seasons. Hatchell moved to Rice from Western Kentucky (assistant coach) where the Hilltoppers posted 50-17 record and a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament.
