UNFURLING THE BANNER...
Baylor will unfurl its 2005 NCAA championship banner during pregame ceremonies of the UCLA/Baylor game. In addition, BU's Big 12 Conference regular season and tournament championship banners will be unveiled. Also, former Lady Bear basketball players will be celebrating more than 30 years of Baylor women's basketball at a reception in the Hankamer School of Business (Cashion Building) prior to the game.

BAYLOR VS. UCLA, INDIANA...
Baylor and UCLA meet for the sixth time while the Lady Bears and Indiana will face off for the second time in the program's histories. UCLA and Indiana both open the season with the Lady Bears. UCLA posted two exhibition wins, an 86-75 victory over Love & Basketball and a 103-62 win over Playmode, while Indiana defeated the Hoosier Lady Stars, 70-63, and Brescia University, 114-45.

QUICK TURNAROUND...
The Lady Bears will play three games in a five-day span. Immediately after Friday night's game against UCLA, the Lady Bears will board a charter plane to travel to Bloomington, Ind., to play Saturday's 5 p.m. (CST) game at Indiana. Baylor will then return home and host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Early the next morning the team departs Waco to fly to Cancun, Mexico, to participate in the Cancun Classic over the Thanksgiving holidays.

21-GAME WIN STREAK...
The Lady Bears enter the UCLA contest sporting the nation's longest win streak, a school-record 21-game string. Baylor's last loss came on Jan. 22, 2005, in Austin, Texas when the Texas Longhorns handed the Lady Bears a 69-55 loss. Baylor would then go on to reel off 20 straight wins in 2005, including victories over three No.1 NCAA Tournament seeds, North Carolina, LSU and Michigan State, to claim its first national title. The Lady Bears extended the win streak to 21 games by defeating Georgia in their season opener, 84-72, as part of the State Farm Tip-Off Classic.

MULKEY'S TEAMS PROTECTING THE HOME COURT...
In Kim Mulkey-Robertson's five years as Baylor's head coach, her teams are 70-10 in the Ferrell Center and eight of those 10 losses have come against ranked teams. The Lady Bears have won 17 straight home games dating back to their Feb. 8, 2004 loss to Texas Tech. In non-conference games, Baylor sports a 12-game home win streak and is 38-2 (.950) in the Ferrell Center under Mulkey-Robertson's tutelage.

During her tenure, Baylor's only home losses have come to:
Jan. 13, 2001 - lost to #17 Oklahoma (90-87)
Feb. 7, 2001 - lost to #11 Texas Tech (67-56)
Jan. 12, 2002 - lost to #3 Oklahoma (82-73)
March 17, 2002 - lost to Drake (76-72, 2nd Round NCAA)
Jan. 26, 2003 - lost to #22 Oklahoma (65-64)
Feb. 8, 2003 - lost to #5 Kansas State (65-53)
Feb. 26, 2003 - lost to #10 Texas (79-57)
April 4, 2003 - lost to Auburn (64-63, WNIT Finals)
Jan. 7, 2004 - lost to #14 Colorado (69-59)
Feb. 8, 2004 - lost to #9 Texas Tech (62-59)

YOUNG ACHIEVES MILESTONE...
With her 14 rebound performance against Georgia senior forward Sophia Young has surpassed the 1,000 rebound mark. In doing so, she becomes just the fourth Baylor player to attain that mark. In addition, her 1,001 rebounds allowed her to move up to No. 4 on the BU career charts surpassing Danielle Crockrom's (1998-02) 999. She needs 11 more boards to pass Maggie Davis Stinnett (1986-89, 90-91) who has 1,011. Jackie Reiter (1980-84) sits at No. 2 with 1,022 and Suzie Snider Eppers (1973-77) holds down No. 1 at 2,176.

TOP PLAYERS SHOWCASED...
Three of the nation's top 30 players will be showcased on Friday when UCLA and Baylor take the court. Baylor forward Sophia Young and UCLA guards Nikki Blue and Noelle Quinn are 2005-06 Wooden Award nominees. In addition, Young and Blue are on the preseason watch list for the State Farm Wade Trophy.

SEASON TICKET SALES BOOM...
Lady Bear basketball season ticket sales have hit an all-time high this season. After selling a then-record 3,700 last year, sales have skyrocketed to an all-time record 4,780 as of Nov. 16, 2005.

THE OPPONENTS...
The UCLA Bruins return 11 letterwinners, including all five starters, and one returning redshirt, off last season's 16-12 squad. The Bruins return 98 percent or more of last season's points, rebounds, 3-pointers, assists, steals, blocks and minutes played. UCLA's "backcourt triple threat" of Nikki Blue, Noelle Quinn and Lisa Willis combined to average 50.2 points, 19.0 rebounds, 10.5 steals and 11.9 assists a game in 2004-05.

The Indiana Hoosiers return 10 letterwinners from last season's 10-18 team, including three starters. Jenny Demuth, Indiana's leading scorer and rebounder from two season ago, will be back after redshirting last season due to injury. The 5-10 forward averaged 18.3 points and 7.7 rebounds in 2003-04. Point guard Cyndi Valentin averaged 15.0 points a game last season. Angela Hawkins will anchor the paint for the Hoosiers, she averaged 5.8 points and 7.0 rebounds a game a year ago.

TEXAS ROOTS...
UCLA redshirt senior Brittany Ringel (6-1, forward) returns to her native state of Texas when the Bruins travel to Waco. Ringel hails from Arlington (Trinity Valley HS/Fort Worth) and for the first time, will concentrate solely on basketball. She has seen limited action after joining the team at the end of the Bruin volleyball schedule in previous seasons. Ringel was a three-year starter at outside hitter for the Bruin volleyball team.

THE COACHES...
The 2005-06 season marks Kathy Olivier's 13th season as the UCLA Bruins' head coach. Since taking over the reins of the program, she has posted a 181-164 record. Prior to assuming the helm of the Bruin program, Olivier served seven seasons as an assistant.

Sharon Versyp begins her first season at the helm of the Indiana Hoosier program. She was named Indiana's head coach on April 8, 2005. She comes to Indiana after a five-year stint as Maine's head coach and four years as an assistant coach there. Versyp also served as an assistant coach at James Madison University and Louisville. She owns a five-year career head coaching record of 98-51 (.658).

THE SERIES RECORDS...
This will be the six meeting between Baylor and UCLA. The Lady Bears hold a 3-2 series lead, including two consecutive victories under current Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson.

Baylor and Indiana met last season in Waco in the first meeting between the two programs. The Lady Bears posted a 60-47 win in Waco.

LAST TIME THE TWO TEAMS MET...
Baylor and UCLA last met on Dec. 18, 2002, in Los Angeles. The Lady Bears posted an 89-77 win in Pauley Pavilion. Only two current Baylor players played in that game, Sophia Young recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds and Jordan Davis scored 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting from 3-point range. UCLA's Nikki Blue led all scorers with 26 points.

Baylor posted a 60-47 win over Indiana in the Lady Bears' home season opener. Sophia Young and Angela Tisdale each recorded double-digit scoring with 16 and 13 respectively.
