WACO, Texas - Trailing 10-9 early in the first half, the Baylor women's basketball team exploded for 27 straight points as the Lady Bears cruised to a 122-53 victory over the Houston Jaguars in an exhibition game played at the Ferrell Center. With the win, Baylor closed out the 2005 exhibition season with a perfect 2-0 record.

In the first 20 minutes, Baylor used a stifling defense to force 16 Houston turnovers and hold the Jaguars to 28 percent (8-of-29) from the field as the Lady Bears built an insurmountable 63-25 lead at the half.

Angela Tisdale, Jhasmin Player and Tricia Abbott each scored in double figures in the first half as the Lady Bears shot 55 percent (26-of-47) from the field for the half.

Houston would never get closer than the halftime score as the Lady Bears continued to cruise in the second half as Baylor picked up the 69-point win.

Abbott led seven Baylor players in double figures as the freshman posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Sophia Young and Rachel Allison also posted double-doubles for the Lady Bears as Young recorded 17 points and led the team with 13 rebounds while Allison scored 13 points and added 11 rebounds in the victory.

Tisdale led all players with seven assists on the night while Allison and Player led Baylor with four steals each in the win.

For the contest, Baylor scored 26 points off of 24 Houston turnovers and held a commanding 78-10 edge in points in the paint. The Lady Bears, who out-rebounded the Jaguars 62-29 on the night, had every player score as Baylor claimed their second consecutive exhibition victory.

Baylor will open the 2005 regular season when the Lady Bears travel to Lubbock, Texas, to face No. 5 Georgia in the State Farm Women's Tip-off Classic on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 12:00 p.m.
