NEW YORK, N.Y. - Amongst rescheduling, relocating, and regrouping, Baylor's women's tennis doubles teams finally played in New York today. Rain caused organizers of the NTC Invitational to scramble in order to locate indoor facilities so that matches could continue without great delay. Baylor's players were sent to Queens College to play the A-1 Flight; each fligh (A and B) was split into two draws resulting in a total of four draws with 16 teams in each.
In the first round of doubles, Klara Zrustova and Zuzana Krchnakova lost to South Carolina's Laura Ganzer and Megan McGavock 8-5. Their back draw match ended with a win over Pennsylvania's Michelle Mitchell and Yulia Rivelis 8-2.
After those matches, Baylor changed their doubles team to Zrustova and Iva Mihaylova who defeated Cornell's Elizabeth Googe and Tamara John 8-3. The win concluded Baylor's doubles play in the tournament.
Singles action is scheduled for three matches tomorrow, Oct. 9. The organizers are currently reforming the brackets due to the rain delay and pairings will be announced later this evening.
