BAYLOR SOCCER RETURNS HOME TO HOST PAIR OF BIG 12 OPPONENTS
WACO, Texas - After opening Big 12 Conference play with three consecutive road games, the Baylor soccer team returns home to face Nebraska and Iowa State in conference play this weekend. Baylor (2-8-1, 0-3-0) hosts Nebraska to kick off the weekend on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7:00 p.m. followed by a meeting with Iowa State on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 1:00 p.m.

"This will be a key weekend in determining whether or not we can secure a spot in the Big 12 Conference Tournament," head coach George Van Linder said. "Every game becomes extremely important from here on out; and, we need to do our best to come away with some points in the standings this weekend."

Baylor enters the weekend looking to snap a six-match losing streak after falling to Texas 3-0 last Friday. Senior Tiffany Boshers leads the Bears heading into the weekend as she is tied for the team lead with eight points and is among the conference leaders in shots and shots on goal.

Nebraska (7-3-1, 2-0-1) enters the weekend in second-place in the Big 12 Conference standings after picking up four points last week. After battling to a scoreless tie against Kansas, Nebraska picked up a 3-0 victory over Missouri. The Huskers are led by Brittany Timko, who leads the team with 17 points. The junior leads the conference with 11 assists and has also added three goals on the season.

Iowa State (7-3-3, 2-1-1) currently stands in third-place in the Big 12 Conference after posting four points in the standings last weekend. The Cyclones tied Missouri 1-1 before cruising past Kansas 3-1. Iowa State is led by Amy Flores, who leads the team with six goals and 13 points on the season.

Nebraska owns a 10-3 edge in the series; however, Baylor has won two straight in the series while the Bears own a 6-3-1 edge in the series against Iowa State.

NOTING THIS WEEKEND

Tiffany Boshers, Anna Schuch and Brittani Zonker are all tied for the team lead with eight points on the season. The trio has each scored three goals and recorded two assists each on the year.

• Baylor goalkeeper Ashley Holder leads the Big 12 Conference with 82 saves on the year.

• For the contest against Nebraska, the first 100 fans will receive a free meal courtesy of HEB as a part of HEB Tailgate Night while fans will also have a chance to win a dinner for two from Johny Carino's.

WORKING THEIR WAY UP THE CHARTS
Several Bears are aiming to continue making their way up the leaderboards in the Baylor recordbook in 2005. Most notably, senior Tiffany Boshers begins the year ranked fifth in school history in career goals and career points.

Tiffany Boshers AMONG CONFERENCE LEADERS
Eleven games into the 2005 season, senior forward Tiffany Boshers ranks near the top of a pair of league categories, ranking third in the league in shots and shots per game. Through 11 games, Boshers ranks third in the league with 56 shots and third with 5.09 shots per game.

So far this season, the forward has connected for three goals and is tied for the team lead with eight points on the season.

Ashley Holder LEADS BIG 12 IN TWO CATEGORIES
Through 11 games this season, Baylor goalkeeper Ashley Holder finds herself at the top of the league rankings in saves and saves per game. So far this season, the sophomore goalkeeper has made 82 saves, well ahead of second-place Joanna Haig of Iowa State, who has made 58 saves this season. Holder also ranks first in the league with a 7.45 saves per game average.

The sophomore also ranks first in both categories in conference only contests. Holder has posted 26 saves through three conference for an 8.67 saves per game average.

In her one-plus years as Baylor goalkeeper, Holder already ranks second on Baylor's career chart with 180 saves during her career.

NEXT TIME OUT
Baylor will return to action on Friday, Oct. 14, when the Bears travel to Stillwater, Okla., to face Oklahoma State at 7:00 p.m. before facing Oklahoma in Norman, Okla., on Sunday, Oct. 16.
