WACO, Texas - Baylor's Lars Poerschke and Matija Zgaga took main draw wins at the Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American today in Tulsa, Okla. advancing them into next round action. Poerschke took a win in the singles draw and shared a win with teammate Zgaga to advance in doubles.
Poerschke defeated two opponents today to remain in main draw competition. In the round of 64, Poerschke took down Pepperdine's 9 seeded Pedro Rico in a three set match 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-4 advancing him into the round of 32 this afternoon. He then defeated Sigudsson Arrar of Pacific in an easy 6-1, 6-1 match. Poerschke will now face UCLA's Ben Kohlloeffel in the round of 16 at 11 a.m. Friday.
The doubles team of Poerschke and Zgaga also clenched a win today in first round doubles action. The Baylor team defeated Ohio State's Drew Eberly and Chris Klingemann in an 8-2 match. The Bears will take on the team of Treat Huey and Somdev Devvarman of UVA tomorrow at 3p.m. Should they advance, the quarterfinal round of doubles will also be played tomorrow.
