Journal Week 7

Last week's loss was really painful for the entire team. We all felt that we could have played better, and I think the team as a whole believes we could have beaten Nebraska had we gotten a few more breaks.

I was even more disappointed to lose because of the great support that we received in the week leading up to the game. The pep rally Thursday night was really well done, and I think really helped the team understand the game's magnitude.

I know that for me the "Uproar" was the single coolest thing the student body has ever done for this team, and I hope they continue to hold pep rally's like this one. On game night we had an excellent crowd, and really did manage to "Fill the Floyd." I know that early in the game we really fed off of the crowd's energy, and that is something that could not have been said in past home games. I do hope that the home crowd got to see a little glimpse of the improvement that this team has made this year.

We are still on track to reach our goal of winning six games and becoming bowl eligible, and there is still a lot of football left in this team. Hopefully we showed enough potential that the stadium will be filled again when we return home to play Texas Tech in two weeks. The bottom line is that this team is still 4-2 and has lost its two games by a total of 12 points, and we are miles ahead of where we were last year at this time.

Although we lost the game there were some positives to be taken from it, and we will need to play well once again to beat Oklahoma this week. Although there is a perception by some that Oklahoma is down this year, there is still a lot of talent on that team and we will need to play our best game of the year to get a win.

I know that all of our dedicated fans would love to make the trip up to Norman to watch us play, but fortunately we will be playing on national TV for the second time this year. So if you aren't planning on taking the road trip you can tune in to Fox Sports Southwest at 6:00 p.m. Saturday to see your Bears battle the Sooners. Sic `Em Bears!
