LUBBOCK, Texas - Senior Lakadron Ivery (Tyler, Texas) recorded victories in the 55 and 200 meters, finished second in the long jump and ran a leg on the first-place 4x400-meter relay to highlight the track team's action at the Wes Kittley Six-Way hosted by Texas Tech Saturday at the Athletic Training Center.
Ivery posted a time of 6.92 to win the 55 meters, then took the 200 meters in 23.74, not far off her school record time of 23.59. She also had a leap of 19-4 to finish second by only two inches in the long jump. Junior Marquisha Sefas (Fort Worth, Texas) finished third in the 55 meters in 7.07, while senior Elizabeth Wilson (Duncanville, Texas) finished fourth in 7.09. Sefas also finished third in the 200 in 24.40, while Wilson took fifth in 24.46 and freshman Carla Grace (San Antonio, Texas) finished sixth in 24.94.
Junior Angel Perkins (Cerritos, Calif.) won the 400 meters by clocking 54.43, then anchored the 4x400-meter relay to a winning time of 3:37.64. Perkins was joined on the relay by Grace, Ivery and senior Danielle Myricks (Willingboro, N.J.).
Freshman Lauren Hagans (Little Rock, Ark.) recorded the other victory on the women's side, winning the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:53.37. Senior Jessa Chance (Southlake, Texas) finished third and sophomore Brittany McGuire (Humble, Texas) finished fifth.
Senior Olympic gold medalist Darold Williamson (San Antonio, Texas) posted a victory in his first action in the open 400 meters this season with a time of 46.62, while sophomore Mark Teter (San Antonio, Texas) finished fourth in 48.32. The men's 4x400-meter relay, which did not lose a race last year, saw its winning streak come to an end, finishing fourth with a time of 3:12.18. Williamson and Teter were joined on the relay by junior Wil Fitts (Desoto, Texas) and sophomore Kevin Mutai (Round Rock, Texas).
Fitts and Mutai finished 1-2 in the 600 yards, posting times of 70.56 and 70.85, respectively. Sophomore John Robertson (Greensboro, N.C.) took fifth, while senior Brian McDonald (Houston, Texas) finished eighth. Senior Chris Gillis (Pennsauken, N.J.) won the long jump with a mark of 23-4 ½.
Freshman Lyndsy Bedell (Plano, Texas) finished a close second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:01.23, while freshman Alissa McKaig (New Haven, Ind.) finished fifth in 10:27.16.
In the 55-meter hurdles, junior Jerome Miller (Houston, Texas) finished third in 7.46, while freshman Jeremy Jackson (Round Rock, Texas) took seventh in 7.64. On the women's side, Janelle Mulkey (San Antonio, Texas) made a fourth-place showing with a time of 8.22. Freshman Danielle Elliott (Waco, Texas) took third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.49, and freshman Jessi Barnes (Bentonville, Ark.) finished fifth in 2:25.40.
