LUBBOCK, Texas - The Baylor track and field team will head west to compete in the Wes Kittley Six-Way Meet hosted by Texas Tech Saturday at the Athletic Training Center.

Senior Olympic gold medalist Darold Williamson (San Antonio, Texas) is scheduled to make his 2005 debut in the open 400 meters this weekend. The Bears recorded three victories at last week's first event, the Houston Indoor Opener.

Junior Will Fitts (Desoto, Texas) took the title in the 800 meters, junior Rob Morrow (Grapevine, Texas) won the 3,000 and the defending national champion 4x400-meter relay also took first. The relay will face its toughest early test of the season, however, with Florida, Texas Tech and TCU boasting strong relay squads. The women also had outstanding performances last week, with several top-five finishes, including second-place showings by sophomore Monique Ortega (El Paso, Texas) in the mile and senior Jessa Chance (Southlake, Texas) in the 3,000 meters.

The field events begin at 10 a.m., followed by the running events at 12 p.m. The meet will run on a rolling schedule, which means there is not a set time between events. The events will be run one after another regardless of time.
