#2/3 BAYLOR VS. OKLAHOMA...
The 2nd-ranked Baylor Lady Bears, 12-2 on the season and 2-1 in league action, will play their second Big 12 home contest when they host the Oklahoma Sooners on Sunday, Jan. 16 at 2:06 p.m. on College Sports Television (CSTV).
Baylor comes into the game at 12-2 after having a 12-game win streak snapped at Nebraska on Wednesday night, a 103-99 triple overtime loss.
After opening the season with a 71-70 loss to No. 3 LSU, Baylor posted wins over Indiana (60-47), Mississippi State (66-49), Sam Houston State (84-53), Rice (77-65), Jackson State (73-56), East Carolina (80-59), back-to-back Big Ten champion Penn State (91-70), Washington (74-58), Florida (89-62), Montana State (92-47), Texas A&M (64-50) and No. 7 Texas (63-60) before falling at Nebraska.
National Player of the Year candidates Sophia Young and Steffanie Blackmon lead the team in both scoring and rebounding with Young averaging 17.9 points and 9.9 rebounds and Blackmon right behind with 17.1 points and 8.4 rebounds.
Oklahoma enters the contest with a 9-4 season record and a 1-1 Big 12 mark. The Sooners are 3-4 on the road this season. They are led by senior Dionnah Jackson's 14.1 points and 8.2 rebounds a game. Leah Rush tallies 13.7 points and 6.8 rebounds for head coach Sherri Coale's Sooners.
BAYLOR IN BIG 12 ACTION...
The 2004-05 season marks the ninth year of competition for women's basketball in the Big 12 Conference. Baylor has a record of 68-63 in Big 12 games. However, in Kim Mulkey-Robertson's four years, Baylor is 41-26 in Big 12 play and has never posted a losing conference record.

DOUBLE TROUBLE...
The tandem of Steffanie Blackmon and Sophia Young in the paint has proven to be one of the most formidable inside duos in NCAA Division I. Last season the pair combined to average 32.3 points and 15.5 rebounds a game, which accounted for 39.7 percent of Baylor's scoring and rebounding. Over the past two seasons Blackmon has averaged 16.6 points and 7.5 rebounds while Young has scored 15.5 a game and hauled down 9.3 boards over that same span.
So far this season, the duo has scored 45.2 percent of the team's points, 489 of 1,082 points. Young has scored in double-digits in all 14 games while Blackmon has registered double-digit scoring in 12 contests. The tandem is combining to pull down 18.3 rebounds a game, good for 43.1 percent of the team's boards. Young is averaging 9.9 a game while Blackmon accounts for 8.4. Against the seventh-ranked Texas Longhorns, the tandem combined for 44 of Baylor's 63 points and 21 of the team's 39 rebounds. and versus Nebraska they scored 55 of BU's 99 points and hauled down 25 of the squad's 52 rebounds
The tandem sits among the Big 12 Conference's leaders in both scoring and rebounding. Young is No.1 in rebounding and tied for No. 3 in scoring, while Blackmon is No. 5 in scoring and No. 4 in rebounding.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT...
The Oklahoma Sooners enter the game well rested after having a bye on Wednesday. The Sooners are 9-4 on the season and 1-1 in Big 12 Conference action. Their losses have come at the hands of Iowa, TCU, Tulsa and Texas Tech. Three of the four losses were on the road. They have posted victories over Southeast Missouri State, Texas State, Akron, Lamar, Southwest Missouri State, Louisiana Tech, Utah, Henderson State and Texas A&M.
Two Sooners are scoring in double figures on the season. Senior guard Dionnah Jackson leads all OU scorers and rebounders with 14.4 points and 8.2 rebounds a game. Jackson dishes out a team-high 5.3 assists and leads the team in blocks (15) and steals (31). Sophomore forward Leah Rush ranks second in both categories with 13.7 points and 6.8 boards.
Head coach Sherri Coale is in her ninth season at Oklahoma and owns a 165-99 career record.
THE SERIES RECORD...
The Jan. 16 meeting between Baylor and Oklahoma marks the 21st contest between the two schools. Oklahoma leads the series 14-6 and had won 11 straight games before Baylor's sweep of the Sooners last season. The Sooners lead the series 6-3 in games played in Waco. Last season in Waco, Baylor, ranked No. 19, posted a 77-62 win over the 24th-ranked Sooners. Steffanie Blackmon scored a season-high 29 points in the game, Sophia Young also tallied 13. Chelsea Whitaker narrowly missed a double-double with 9 points and 10 assists. Baylor shot 48.4 percent from the floor while limiting Oklahoma to 39.6 percent. Both teams were dismal from 3-point range, Baylor was 1-of-10 and Oklahoma was 4-for-19 from behind the arc. Baylor dominated the boards in the game, hauling down 42 to the Sooners' 27.
Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson is 2-7 versus Oklahoma.
