WACO, Texas-For the second time in three weeks, Baylor women's cross country runner Brittany Brockman was named Big 12 Conference Runner of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday.
A native of Houston, Texas, Brockman raced to an eighth-place finish in the 6,000-meters at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn., to help lead the Bears to a fourth-place finish. The sophomore ran the course in a time of 21:19 to guide the Bears for the third straight meet. It was Brockman's highest career finish at the event after finishing 25th at the meet last season.
The honor marks the second time Brockman has been selected for the award this year. Previously, Brockman won the honor for her performance at the Mean Green Opener after capturing the individual title at the meet.
The No. 17 Baylor women's cross country team will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 16, when the women run at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. Meanwhile, the men will return to action on the same day, running at the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
In addition, a small contingent of Baylor runners will participate in the North Texas Invitational on Friday, Oct. 1, in Denton, Texas.
