DENTON, Texas-The Baylor men's cross country team captured the team title as the women raced to a second-place team finish at the Mean Green Opener ran this morning at the Eagle Point Campus. Baylor swept the individual titles as Brittany Brockman took home first in the women's competition while Bo Price captured the men's title.
On the men's side, Baylor came in first with 16 points, easily defeating North Texas who came in second with 54. The Bears also fared well during the women's race as Baylor finished second, trailing SMU by only ten points.
The men cruised to victory as the top four finishers were Baylor runners. After Price finished first in a time of 25:14.0, Rob Morrow, Cody Wells and Jason Baker finished second through fourth, respectively, as Baylor easily captured the men's crown.
Brockman led the way for the women, winning in a time of 17:43.0. Freshman Lyndsy Bedell was the next Bear to finish, coming in sixth with a time of 18:29.0. Brittany McGuire followed close behind to place seventh as Lauren Hagans finished ninth to give Baylor four top-ten finishes on the day.
The men's and women's cross country teams will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 25, when the Bears travel to St. Paul, Minn., to run in the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational.
