Lady Bear Basketball Schedule Announced

WACO, Texas - For the 2004-05 season, Baylor University's women's basketball team will face 13 teams that saw action in postseason competition last year. LSU, Penn State, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Missouri and Colorado all played in the NCAA Tournament while Rice, Washington, Nebraska and Iowa State were WNIT participants. All told, 16 of the Lady Bears' 28 games will be against 2004 postseason teams. The Lady Bears will open their 2004-05 campaign on Nov. 14 against national power LSU when they participate in the State Farm Tip-Off Classic at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. The game, the first contest of a doubleheader, Texas and Penn State face off in the other game, will be shown on ESPN2. Four other games will be played in November. Baylor will host Indiana (Nov. 19), Sam Houston State (Nov. 26) and Rice (Nov. 30) and travel to Mississippi State (Nov. 23). In early December, Baylor will travel to Greenville, N.C., to participate in the Lady Pirate Invitational (Dec. 4-5). In first day action, the Lady Bears and Jackson State will face off and tournament host East Carolina will tangle with Stephen F. Austin. The consolation/championship games will be played on Sun., Dec. 5. The Lady Bears will play three home dates in December with Penn State (Dec. 11), Florida (Dec. 19) and Montana State (Dec. 29) appearing in the Ferrell Center. The Florida games is a part of the 2004 SEC/Big 12 Challenge. In addition, Baylor will travel to Seattle to take on the Washington Huskies on Dec. 15. In addition, the Big 12 Conference recently announced the 2005 women's basketball schedule. Baylor will open conference play in College Station against Texas A&M, Wed., Jan. 5. In January, the Lady Bears will face three opponents at home and four on the road. Baylor will play Texas (Jan. 8), Oklahoma (Jan. 16) and Texas A&M (Jan. 26) at the Ferrell Center in January. Along with Texas A&M, Baylor will travel to Nebraska (Jan. 12), Texas (Jan. 22), and Oklahoma State (Jan. 29) the first month of league play. February will see the Lady Bears hosting Kansas State (Feb. 2), Oklahoma State (Feb. 12), Missouri (Feb. 16) and Iowa State (Feb. 19), while traveling to Texas Tech (Feb. 5), Oklahoma (Feb. 9), Kansas (Feb. 23) and Colorado (Feb. 26). The Lady Bears will conclude regular-season play on March 3, hosting Texas Tech.
