Wariner Ready to Run in Athens

ATHENS, Greece - Baylor junior Jeremy Wariner (Grand Prairie, Texas) has been working to these moments all year long. He has won nearly every title along the way and begins his quest for the ultimate prize - an Olympic gold medal - Thursday. Wariner will run in the preliminary rounds of the 400 meters at Olympic Stadium at 2:30 p.m. CDT Thursday, the semifinals are at 2:00 p.m. CDT Friday and the finals are at 2:30 p.m. CDT Monday. None of the rounds will be shown live; however, they can be seen at approximately 8 p.m. CDT each night on NBC. Wariner has the fastest time in the world heading into the Olympics, winning the U.S. Championship with a time of 44.37. He was also the NCAA indoor and outdoor 400-meter champion, setting stadium records at each venue, and the Mondo National Male Track Athlete of the Year. A watch party is planned for Monday night Damon's in the Hilton Hotel from 6-10 p.m.
