AUSTIN, Texas - Baylor junior April Holliness (Duncanville, Texas) posted a mark of 6.55 meters (21-6) to finish third on the second day of the 2004 Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Texas Thursday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Holliness, the NCAA Midwest Regional champion, earned All-American honors for a fourth time and posted the highest finish of her career. Georgia's Hyleas Fountain won the competition with a mark of 6.61 meters (21-8 ?), while Nebraska's Ineta Radevica had the same mark as Holliness at 6.55 (21-6) to take second by virtue of one fewer foul.

Senior Jordan Willmann (Llano, Texas) finished 22nd in the heptathlon with 4,930 points and had the third-fastest time in the 800 meters to conclude the competition.

The men's 4x400-meter relay squad of sophomore Wil Fitts (Desoto, Texas), freshman Braelon Davis (Dallas, Texas), sophomore Jeremy Wariner (Grand Prairie, Texas) and junior Darold Williamson (San Antonio, Texas) clocked the fastest qualifying time at 3:01.87.

Junior Chris Gillis (Camden, N.J.) finished 15th in the long jump with a mark of 7.54 meters (24-9). Junior Elizabeth Wilson (Duncanville, Texas) clocked 23.71 and Davis clocked 20.90 in the 200 meters, but neither qualified for the finals.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore Shanta Bibbs (San Antonio, Texas), junior Danielle Myricks (Willingboro, N.J.) and freshmen Lauren Tillman (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and Rena Napoleon (Colorado Springs, Colo.) clocked 3:36.36 and did not qualify for the finals. The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Davis, Wariner, Williamson and sophomore Jamen Saziru (Waco, Texas) also failed to qualify, coming in at 40.18.
