Men's 4x400 Captures Crown at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - Baylor sophomore Jeremy Wariner (Grand Prairie, Texas) ran a 43.80 split on the third leg to hand the baton off to junior Darold Williamson (San Antonio, Texas) with the lead as the 4x400-meter relay team clocked a 3:01.06, the fastest time in the world this year, to capture the title on the final day of action Saturday at the 77th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Freshman Mark Teter (San Antonio, Texas) ran leadoff, while sophomore Jamen Saziru (Waco, Texas) ran second and the Bears won the race for the 18th time in the last 23 years.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Rena Napoleon (Colorado Springs, Colo.), junior Danielle Myricks (Willingboro, N.J.), freshman Lauren Tillman (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and junior Lakadron Ivery (Tyler, Texas) clocked a time of 3:33.81 to finish fourth.

The women's 4x100-meter relay squad of sophomore Marquisha Sefas (Fort Worth, Texas) and juniors April Holliness (Duncanville, Texas), Elizabeth Wilson (Duncanville, Texas) and Ivery finished second with a regional qualifying time of 44.11, the third-fastest time in school history. LSU won the event with a time of 43.34, the second-fastest time in the world this year.

Ivery finished second in the 100 meters with a regional qualifying time of 11.34, the fourth-fastest time in school history. She finished three-hundredths of a second behind indoor 60-meter champion Muna Lee of LSU.

The men's distance medley relay team of freshman Bo Price (Atlanta, Texas), senior Joel Martin (Stephenville, Texas), sophomore Wil Fitts (Desoto, Texas) and senior Kyle King (Sulpher Springs, Texas) took third with a time of 9:43.17.

Freshman Dominique Zeigler (Killeen, Texas) finished 10th in the high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters (6-6 ?), the third straight meet he has reached that same mark.

Myricks finished ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a regional qualifying time of 59.67. The women's distance medley relay team of freshman Monique Ortega (El Paso, Texas), junior Jasmine Opusunju (Stafford, Texas), sophomore Mary Pearce (Anchorage, Alaska) and junior Jessa Chance (Southlake, Texas) finished 7th with a time of 11:42.49.

In the 1,500 meters, freshman Brittany Brockman (Houston, Texas) finished 13th with a time of 4:38.33.
