Baylor will compete at the 2004 Big 12 Outdoor Championships Thursday through Saturday, April 29-May 1 at John Jacobs Field in Norman, Okla.
The men's team enters the meet ranked fifth in the country, while the women are tied for 14th. At the indoor conference championships, the men finished third, while the women were sixth.
BAYLOR NOTES
Who to Watch
* Junior Darold Williamson and sophomore Jeremy Wariner currently rank No. 1 and No. 2 in the world in the 400-meters and lead the nation's top-ranked 4x400-meter relay team as well as the Big 12's top-ranked 4x100 relay squad.
* Junior Lakadron Ivery has the top time in the conference in the 100 meters, the third-fastest time in the 200 meters, the second-longest mark in the long jump and anchors the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays, which both rank second in the conference.
* Junior April Holliness has the top mark in the Big 12, second-longest in the country, in the long jump, while senior Jordan Willmann ranks third in the conference in the heptathlon.
* Junior Jessa Chance has the second-best mark in the Big 12 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while junior Danielle Myricks ranks third in the 400-meter hurdles.
* Seniors Megan McCoin and Erin Dixon are ranked No. 2 and No. 4 in the conference in the 3,000 meters.
Outdoor Conference History
The women have only finished outside of the Top 5 once in seven years and posted a high finish of second in 1999...The men have finished in the Top 5 in five of seven years with their high also being second in 1998...The men have won three conference championships (1960, 62-63), while the women are still seeking their first.
Schedule
The action kicks off for the Bears on Thursday with senior All-American Jordan Willmann competing in the heptathlon at 1:30 p.m. Also on Thursday, freshmen Blake Havran and Chris Cardwell with compete in the hammer throw at 4 p.m., and senior Megan McCoin will run the 10,000 meters at 8 p.m.
The heptathlon wraps up on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. Field events begin at 2 p.m. with the women's long jump, and the preliminary heats for the running events begin at 4:30 p.m.
On Saturday, the field events begin at 1 p.m. with the women's triple jump, while the finals for the running events begin at 4 p.m. and conclude with the men's 4x400 relay at 7:30 p.m.
