WACO, Texas - Baylor University junior Darold Williamson (San Antonio, Texas) keeps adding to his accolades as he was named Athlete of the Week by the United States Track Coaches Association Tuesday. Williamson, the first Bear to ever receive the national award, was also honored as Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday.

Williamson clocked the fastest time in the world in the 400 at the Michael Johnson Classic Saturday, coming in at 44.59, just ahead of sophomore teammate and indoor national champion Jeremy Wariner (Grand Prairie, Texas), who posted a 44.80 to rank second in the world.

Williamson also helped lead the 4x100-meter relay team to a regional qualifying time of 39.57 and anchors the world's fastest 4x400-meter relay squad along with Wariner, sophomore Jamen Saziru (Waco, Texas) and freshman Mark Teter (San Antonio, Texas), who clocked 3:01.06 at the Texas Relays on April 3.

The Bears return to action at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships April 29-May 1 in Norman, Okla.
