WACO, Texas - Baylor women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson added two top players to the Lady Bear roster on Thursday.
Signing National Letters of Intent of play at Baylor next season are McLennan Community College guard LaToya Wyatt and San Marcos guard Victoria Jones. They join Chisa Ononiwu of Houston's Westfield High School and Del Valle's Angela Tisdale, both guards, who signed with Baylor in the early signing period in November.
Wyatt, a 5-7 guard, led McLennan Community College to a 23-9 record en route to earning National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American honors. Wyatt, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, averaged 18.0 point, 4.5 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 3.0 steals for the Highlassies. In addition, she shot 40 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the free throw line. Other honors include NJCAA All-Region and Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference freshman and player of the year. Wyatt, a 2003 graduate of L.D. Bell High School, will have three years of eligibility at Baylor.
San Marcos High School standout Victoria Jones, a 5-5 guard, averaged 24.0 points, 7.0 assists, 6.8 rebounds and 5.3 steals for the Lady Rattlers this season. She was named District 25-5A MVP and is a three-time all-district selection. In addition, she earned TABC All-State first team and first-team TABC all-region honors. Jones was named to the Austin American- Statesman's All-Central Texas first team and was Centex MVP runner-up. Jones excels in track as well, she recently placed second in District 25-5A in the long jump and runs on the Lady Rattlers' relay teams as well.
"We are excited to sign Victoria and LoToya," Mulkey-Robertson said. "Both young ladies bring speed, quickness and depth to our backcourt."
