WACO, Texas - Baylor sophomore Jeremy Wariner was named Big 12 Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today. Wariner also clocked a regional qualifying time of 20.87 in the 200 meters to finish third to earn his third conference honor this year, claiming the award twice indoors. Wariner was the indoor national champion in the 400, clocking a 45.39, also the fastest time indoors this year and was the third leg for the indoor national champion 4x400 relay squad that clocked a collegiate record time of 3:03.96. The Bears' outdoor relay team, which also includes sophomore Jamen Saziru, freshman Mark Teter and Williamson, currently holds the world's fastest outdoor time as well, posting a 3:01.06 at the Texas Relays on April 3.
