WACO, Texas - Under the direction of second-year coach Guy Morriss, the Baylor football team will begin spring practice on Tuesday, March 23. The first practice is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. on the Floyd Casey Stadium practice fields.
The Bears will practice a total of 14 times leading up to the April 17 Green-Gold Spring Game at Floyd Casey Stadium. All workouts are open to the public, however, fans should check www.baylorbears.com to confirm practice start times.
"We've got a good nucleus back and in that group are a bunch of players who want to win," Morriss said. "We are anxious to get started. I believe this is a group of kids we can rally around. The players are familiar with the coaching staff, they are comfortable with us and they know our schemes. We can get right into when we get on the field next week.
"Hopefully, we'll be able to put a little more on them and take it to the next level, especially from an offensive standpoint," he added. "Because they are familiar with the system and have another year under their belts, they should be able to handle it and execute it better than last year. Mentally, we are a totally different team from a year ago. They are starting to understand the value of hard work and what it takes to win. I believe that will be a strength for us."
Workouts are scheduled for March 23, 25, 27, 30, April 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15. The Green-Gold Spring Game will be at 1 p.m. on April 17.
Baylor returns 44 lettermen, including 16 starters, from last year's team which finished 3-9 overall and 1-7 in the Big 12 South.
