WACO, Texas (AP) - Dionne Brown scored 16 points, and No. 16 Baylor used solid defense to shut down Texas A&M in an 80-55 victory Saturday night.
Sophia Young and Steffanie Blackmon added 13 points each for the Lady Bears (21-7, 9-6 Big 12), who held A&M to a season-low 16 points in the first half.
Baylor dominated from the start, holding the Aggies (9-17, 2-13 Big 12) to 31-percent shooting. Brown scored 10 points to lead Baylor to a 36-16 halftime lead. Charlette Castile led Texas A&M with 15 points.
The Lady Bears extended their lead to 48-21 three minutes into the second half after Young stole the ball and fed Chelsea Whitaker for a breakaway layup. The lead reached 67-32 on Chemeka Scott's jumper with eight minutes remaining.
Baylor dominated inside, outscoring the Aggies 44-18 in the paint.
In the first half, Baylor connected on 54 percent of its shots with a 15-for-28 performance, while the Aggies hit only seven of 33 attempts for 21 percent.
For the game, the Lady Bears hit 59 percent (31-of-53).
