DALLAS - Baylor's Steffanie Blackmon was named Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week and Iowa State's Megan Ronhovde was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week for games from Feb. 16-22, the conference office announced Monday.

Players are nominated by each school's sports information office and voted on by a panel of media who cover Big 12 women's basketball.

Blackmon, a 6-2 junior post, led Baylor to two victories last week, a 76-61 win over Oklahoma State and a 77-62 triumph over No. 24 Oklahoma. For the week, Blackmon averaged 24.5 points (almost 10 points a game above her average) and 11.0 rebounds. In addition, she shot 18-of-33 (.545) from the floor and was 13-of-14 (.929) from the free throw line. She also registered five blocks, two steals and two assists. Against Oklahoma State, the Dallas, Texas, native tallied 20 points and hauled down a career-high 16 rebounds to register her fifth double-double of the season and 17th of her career. In the Lady Bears' win over Oklahoma, Blackmon scored a season-high 29 points, just one off her career high. She was 11-for-15 from the floor and a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Blackmon joins three other Baylor players honored by the league this season. Sophomore Sophia Young (Jan. 19) and senior Jessika Stratton (Jan. 26) were named Big 12 Player of the Week earlier this year and freshman Emily Niemann earned Rookie of the Week kudos on Dec. 15.

Ronhovde, a 6-1 freshman guard, averaged 11.5 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 46.7 percent from behind the arc (7-of-15) in Iowa State's two wins last week. Against Nebraska, the Barrett, Minn., native hit 3-of-6 treys en route to nine points and collected a career-best 11 rebounds. She hit back-to-back 3-pointers to stop a Nebraska comeback bid and start a Cyclone scoring run that would put the game out of reach. In addition, she swatted the second blocked shot of her career. Ronhovde had 14 points and six rebounds at Kansas, helping ISU to a 73-58 win. She drained four 3-pointers against the Jayhawks and collected two steals.
