GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Baylor got a victory, and that's all coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson wanted.

Steffanie Blackmon scored 17 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Baylor (No. 11 ESPN/USA Today, No. 9 AP) past Jackson State 73-56 on Saturday in the opener of the Lady Pirate Invitational.

Baylor, which led 31-19 at the half, shot a season-best 49 percent despite going 4-of-15 from 3-point range.

"It was very ugly," Mulkey-Robertson said. "It is a win and we are going to move on."

Emily Niemann had 14 points while Sophia Young added 10 for the Lady Bears (5-1). Angela Tisdale led the Baylor offense with eight assists.

Shante Stanford led Jackson State (1-2) with 21 points.

"We played a very good basketball team, obviously, they are the ninth-ranked team in the nation," Jackson State coach Denise Taylor-Lewis said. "I thought with the young team that we have, today's game gave us an opportunity to see what our strengths are."

Baylor will play East Carolina in the championship game on Sunday.
