#9/11 BAYLOR VS. JACKSON STATE • STEPHEN F. AUSTIN or EAST CAROLINA...
Baylor travels to North Carolina to participate in the East Carolina-hosted Lady Pirate Invitational, Dec. 4-5. The Lady Bears will take on Jackson State in first round action on Saturday then play either East Carolina or Stephen F. Austin on Sunday. The Lady Bears' game on Saturday will be at noon while Sunday's game time will depend upon the opponent. If Baylor faces Stephen F. Austin the game will begin at noon. If the opponent is East Carolina the game is slated to start at 2:00 p.m. All game times are listed as Central time.

Baylor comes into the game at 4-1 and riding a four-game win streak. After opening the season with a 71-70 loss to then-No. 3 and now top-ranked LSU, Baylor posted wins over Indiana (60-47), Mississippi State (66-49), Sam Houston State (84-53) and Rice (77-65). The Jackson State Lady Tigers enter the tournament with a 1-1 record, Stephen F. Austin is 1-2 and East Carolina owns a 1-4 record.

BLACKMON'S BLOCK PARTY...
Senior post Steffanie Blackmon needs to block only three more shots to become the program's all-time shot blocker. She has rejected 139 shots and the Baylor record is 141, held by Kacy Moffitt who played from 1995-99.

DOUBLE TROUBLE...
The tandem of Steffanie Blackmon and Sophia Young in the paint has proven to be one of the most formidable inside duos in NCAA Division I. Last season the pair combined to average 32.3 points and 15.5 rebounds a game, which accounted for 39.7 percent of Baylor's scoring and rebounding. Over the past two seasons Blackmon has averaged 16.6 points and 7.5 rebounds while Young has scored 15.5 a game and hauled down 9.3 boards over that same span. So far this season, the duo has scored 46.2 percent of the team's points, 165 of 357 points. Young has scored in double-digits in all five games while Blackmon has registered double-digit scoring in four contests. The tandem is combining to pull down 19.6 rebounds a game, good for 47.1 percent of the team's boards. Young is averaging 10.0 a game while Blackmon accounts for 9.6.

DOUBLE FIGURE SCORING STREAK...
Sophia Young extended her double-figure scoring streak to 15 games with her 15 points against Rice. The streak began on Feb. 18, 2004 against Oklahoma. Young has scored in double-digits in 52 of her last 54 games. She ended her rookie season with a 14-game double digit scoring streak, posted double-figure scoring in 33 of 35 games last season and is a perfect 5-for-5 this season. For her career she is has posted double figures in 66 of 75 games which includes a 36-game double-figure scoring streak. Steffanie Blackmon scored only two points against Sam Houston State, breaking a 17-game streak which dated back to last season.

ONLY THE FIFTH...
When sophomore Emily Niemann did not score any 3-pointers against either Indiana and Mississippi State, it was just the fifth and sixth times in her career that she failed to bury a trey. She has scored at least one 3-pointer in 34 of 40 games. In addition, she has scored three or more 3-pointers in 18 games, 15 as a rookie and three times (LSU, Sam Houston State, Rice) so far this season. Baylor is 13-5 in those games

FINALLY, THEY'RE FALLING...
It took them four games, but the Lady Bears finally started hitting their shots from beyond the 3-point line. In Baylor's first thee games, the team had made only nine 3-pointers, then against Sam Houston State, the Lady Bears poured in 10. Chameka Scott and Angela Tisdale each hit three and Jordan Davis and Emily Niemann popped in two apiece. Ovewr the last two games, the Lady Bears have hit 48.1 percent of their treys.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT...
The Jackson State Lady Tigers will be playing their third game of the season when they take on the Lady Bears. The Lady Tigers are 1-1 after losing their season opener to Georgia Southern, 53-41 and defeating Radford, 53-47. Both games were part of the Eastern Kentucky Tournament.
