WACO, Texas - The Lady Bear basketball team will host the TTT Riga, a team from Riga, Latvia, in an exhibition contest on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Ferrell Center. The contest will be Baylor's final exhibition game before opening the regular season against LSU on Nov. 14.

TTT Riga, currently 1-2 on its 2004 tour and will play at Louisiana Tech on Monday, Nov. 8. They defeated Wichita State in their tour opener, 72-60, and lost to both Oklahoma (101-57) and TCU (95-54). Ieva Tare, a 6-1 forward, is leading TTT Riga in scoring, averaging 17.7 points a game.

In its exhibition opener, Baylor defeated the Houston Jaguars, 99-72. Junior forward Sophia Young was 11-of-14 from the floor and tallied a team-high 23 points. She also hauled down eight rebounds. Sophomore forward Abiola Wabara registered a doubled-double with a 15-point, 10-rebound performance. Freshman point guard Angela Tisdale dished out seven assists in 11 minutes of action and freshman guard Chisa Ononiwu garnered four steals in 11 minutes.

Baylor will open the 2004-05 regular season when they travel to Austin, Texas, on Sunday, Nov. 14, to play in the State Farm Tip-Off Classic. The Lady Bears will take on LSU at 12:30 p.m. in the Frank Erwin Center, the game will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Texas and Penn State will square off in the second game which begins at 3 p.m.
