WACO, Texas - Baylor University and Baylor Athletics hosted Bear Growl at the Ferrell Center Thursday. This new Baylor event will be held three times a year in order to showcase a particular season's sports and build campus spirit.
Last night's Bear Growl tipped off the men's and women's basketball season. There will be similar rallies that will follow in the spring for baseball, softball, track, tennis and golf. The fall semester Bear Growl will feature football, volleyball, soccer and cross country.
Bear Growl is a university-wide effort aimed at bringing the Baylor family together to celebrate our unity and Big 12 Conference sports. Baylor students, faculty and staff gathered at the Ferrell Center Thursday night for a free dinner and entertainment. To encourage students to attend, all dinning locations, except Memorial Hall, were closed, making dinner available in front of the Ferrell Center. Following the picnic-style dinner was the men's and women's basketball extravaganza.
This was the first opportunity for the Baylor family to preview the upcoming basketball season and witness the personal side of our coaches and athletes. The entertainment included a welcome from Dr. Sloan, season-pumping speeches from Kim Mulkey-Robertson and Scott Drew, and action-packed contests between the athletes.
The date for the spring Bear Growl will be announced after the beginning of the year. For more information contact Liesl Rodenhaver at 710-8183. DEFINE FAN. Support the Bears.
