Dallas, Texas-Seven Baylor soccer players were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Conference team with five Bears earning first-team honors the conference office announced today.
April Robertson, a senior majoring in education, and Kristin Ruef, a senior marketing/professional selling major, each earned their third consecutive selections to the team. The pair of graduating seniors were named to the first team academic all-conference squad in each of the years they were eligible to be selected.
Bethany Vick, a junior Recrational Leisure Servies major, earned her second consecutive selection to the team after being named to the first team last season.
Missy McConnell (So., Marketing) and Lori Viggiano (Sr., Political Science) each earned their first selections to the first-team Academic All-Big 12 Conference squad. Kandyce Farr (Jr., Health Science Studies) and Brittani Zonnker (Jr., Business) rounded out Baylor's selections to the squad with second team honors.
Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or in each of the two previous semesters while participating in 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests to qualify.
Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are eligible.
Baylor closed out the season with a win against Texas Tech this past weekend and finished the year with a record of 7-9-2.
