When I think of Indiana, three things come to mind; the movie Hoosiers (what a classic), Bob Knight throwing things, and finally our season's home opener. With Monday off after LSU we spent the rest of the week gearing up for the games to come. We worked on a lot of individual things we needed to do in order to beat Indiana. They were a pretty fundamental team, that likes to shoot the three and could put some size under the basket against us as well. Game day came and it was a good one. Before the game was one of my favorite parts, the video guys put together a new pre-game show, with head shots and music. It was fun to see it on the big screen. Then after all the names were announced, the sweet 16 banner was unveiled. That was definitely fun to watch. I wonder who thought of putting past accomplishments on banners, well whoever it was I am glad they did. It's like a reminder of a feeling I want to feel again, and of the fact that I was apart of something special. Anyway, the game was interesting. We didn't come out shooting as strong as we could have, but luckily they didn't either. Sophia and Steff did a great job with the post play. They both had double-doubles which is a great way to start off the season I think.
Saturday morning came very quick considering we had practice at 8:00 that morning. We scrimmaged amongst ourselves for a while and got a lot out of it. The last home football game was pretty early that morning as well, but I didn't make it out there. Jordan and Chelsea were our only representatives I think. Later that night though, we saw a Baylor highlight on the top 10 countdown on ESPN. So, congrats to the football boys on that accomplishment. Saturday night was kind of routine. Emily, Victoria, Chelsea, Chanelle, Abi, Jordan, Sophia, and I all went to the volleyball game. It was their last home game as well. They did a good job but didn't come up with the win. After the game we hung around the Ferrell Center a while and talked, then we remembered we were starving, so we went to Taco Cabana! It was still pretty early after dinner so a couple of us decided to go back to my house and watch a movie. So Mel, Victoria, and I watched "Elf" with Will Ferrell. It was absolutely hilarious. I think it is definitely one of my favorite holiday movies.
Sunday was another good day of practice as we turned our attention to Mississippi State. We were going to have our hands full on the perimeter defensively so that was a major factor throughout practice. Our flight left Monday afternoon from the Waco Regional Airport. There were fans there and everything! It was fun to see everyone again for our first real road game. There's not much to do in Starkville, Miss., but concentrate on basketball and that's just what we did. We watched a lot of film and got in a late practice followed by an early shoot around. Our game was the early part of a double header on Tuesday so we tipped-off at 5:00 pm. The game itself wasn't what we wanted it to be offensively again but we out-rebounded them. We extended our lead finally during a run in the second half to secure our first road win. We left for home right after the game which was fine with me. With Wednesday off, a few girls left for home once we got back to Waco.
Wednesday was a day of well needed rest; I slept in for the first time in quite a while. Sophia got a new car that day so when I woke up I got to go see it and help her get situated with it. It's a very cute car; I think she is still looking for a name for it if anyone has any ideas. Later that night we went to watch our boys play for the first time this year, which was fun! Then we called it a night.
Thanksgiving Day was another great opportunity to sleep in and wake up in time to eat and watch television. Sophia and I went over to Coach Mulkey's for dinner/ lunch. Jennifer and Johnny were there along with some of Coach's family. The chef was her mom and the food was awesome. Definitely hit the spot. We couldn't fill up too much with practice in a couple of hours but we did take a plate home for later. All in all it was a good week or so. Keep looking for what happens next week! Hope to see all of you in the Ferrell Center on Tuesday night when we take on the Rice Owls!
