WACO, Texas-The Baylor men's and women's cross country teams return to action this weekend when the Bears host the NCAA South Central Regional beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course. The women will run a 6,000-meter race beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the men to follow with a 10,000-meter race beginning at 11:15 a.m.

"We are extremely excited to host the NCAA regional meet," head coach Todd Harbour said. "We are looking for strong performances from our men's and women's teams this weekend. Hopefully, the women will be able to duplicate last year's performance and automatically qualify for the NCAA championships."

The race is the beginning of the run towards the NCAA Championship as the top two teams on the men's and women's side advance to the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. In addition, 13 at-large teams from around the country will also earn berths into the championships.

Baylor is coming off a strong showing at the Big 12 Championships where the men raced to a seventh place finish while the women finished fourth. Bo Price led the way for the men, earning his second consecutive all-conference honor with his eighth-place finish. The finish was the highest for any Baylor men's runner since the start of the Big 12 Conference.

On the women's side, Baylor was led by Brittany Brockman, who also earned her second consecutive all-conference honor with a 13th-place finish. Brockman and the Bears will hope to duplicate last year's performance at the regional when Baylor raced to a second place finish and automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships.

At last year's cross country regional, the Baylor men raced to a seventh-place finish, led by Price who was the first Baylor runner to cross the line when he finished 19th.

The Arkansas men's squad returns to defend last year's men's team title while Texas returns on the women's side in hopes of defending last season's team title.

Should Baylor men's or women's squad finish in the top two at the NCAA South Central Regional, or earn one of the at-large bids, the team will return to action on Mon., Nov. 22, at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.
