It's only 14 days until the big day!!! We have been working hard for a week straight now and things are coming right along. We had our first scrimmage on Saturday and got up and down the floor a lot. It was fun to run the floor and put a week's worth of work together. We tried all kinds of combinations and set up different game-like situations. It brought back the thoughts of real game time. The intensity of the crowd, the energy in the locker room, just all the sounds and emotions that go along with any game day, gives me so much motivation. I'm getting all riled up just writing about it!!!
Although we missed the Homecoming Parade, a few of us made it out to the football game to support our fellow student-athletes. It was good to get out and just kind of relax, watch some football and hang out with friends. Too bad it was blazing hot outside, I think I sweated through my undershirt just sitting there. Nevertheless, we had a good time despite the weather and the outcome of the game. After the game we made a quick stop at my house to have some pizza and we ended up watching a replay of the parade on TV before we headed out to the volleyball game. We try to get out and support as many Baylor teams as possible. We were a tad bit late but once we got there we tried our best to "Get the crowd up!" Our girls fought hard but we didn't come out with the big W. We then decided that we should go to the movies. It would be fun and required very little movement which is always good when you have practice the next day. We saw The Grudge, it was a pretty scary movie but as a whole no one liked it. I spent a good part of the movie trying to keep Sophia's eyes open and eating all of Victoria's popcorn. Steffanie didn't really seem too scared but Jordan and Emily admitted to jumping a few times. So with a day that full of excitement we went straight to bed after the movie.
Monday came quicker than normal after a late Sunday practice. We were starting to feel the effects of a week straight but we still got the job done. The dream team guys came for the first time on Tuesday which was awesome. It was fun to meet new people and see new faces at practices. Having them is such an advantage in terms of running our plays and seeing how far we really have come along. They definitely were excited to be there because they came out full speed and never changed gears. We got up and down the floor a lot again and tried more game time situations. I would say it was a very productive day to end on before our day off.
My fellow Lady Bears and I would like to encourage all of you to come to Austin on Sunday, Nov. 14, when we take on the LSU Tigers in the State Farm Tip Off Classic. It is an honor to be selected to play in the Classic and our fans provide us so much energy. Also, we want all of the people viewing on ESPN2 to see tons of Baylor gold!
