DALLAS, Texas-Six Baylor cross country runners were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Conference team the conference office announced today. Brittany Brockman, Brittany McGuire and Bo Price earned first team honors while Jason Baker, Chris Vidrine and Jessa Chance earned second-team honors for the Bears.
Price, a junior majoring in business administration, was named first team academic all-conference for the second consecutive year. Baker, a junior majoring in business, also earned her second consecutive academic all-conference nod.
Brockman (So., Health Science Studies), McGuire (So., Business), Chance (Sr., General Studies) and Vidrine (So., Undecided) were all named academic all-conference for the first time in their careers.
To qualify student-athletes must have a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or in each of the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are included.
Baylor will return to action when Kansas State hosts the 2004 Big 12 Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship Saturday, Oct. 30, at Stateland Cross Country Course in Topeka, Kan. The women's 6,000-meter run will begin at 10 a.m. CT followed by the men's 8,000-meter race at 11 a.m. The top men's and women's teams will be crowned league champion, while the first 15 individuals in each race will be awarded all-conference status.
